The 1998-2011 Rangers have the same front suspension as the 2nd gen Explorers. So the 302 would be a decent swap into those Rangers, but the dash wiring system would require serious changes. As said it would be a legal swap in many emissions states, and depending on how the Ranger dash is, the Explorer computer wouldn't play nice with the instruments. 410Fortune has done a few swap into the Rangers, and is working on a 2007 now, he would be a good source to ask those questions with.
