5R55E help needed

I would love to hear any and all advice on this trans, I bought a 00 explorer 4X4, 4.0 Sohc V6. 102,000 miles When you drive it, it will not come out of first, rev and first are the only gears that work. I have read a lot and asked around a lot and thought i would start with the valve body. So far I have dropped the pan, no metal chunks slunde or gunk I guess you would call it. The fluid was horrible compleately burnt and it looked like oil. I dropped the valve body and Nothing seemed really obvious but I dont really know what I am looking for either. I am going to start with the diary by glacier and start with those upgrades mentioned. I am also going to replace the EPC soleniod. I am thinking about all 6 but unsure so far. One thing I have seen and worries me is the filter or screen on the TCC solinoid in gone. It is not any were that I can see and I do not see it just falling off. Also one of the valves are sticking pretty good I believe it is the boost valve, but not 100%. Also This one is going tobe very hard to explain without a pic. but on the side that has 2 shift soleniods one of the valves looks like it is off center if you look inside the VB Liek I said that is a hard one to explain. Also were is the best place to buy these kits? I guess the dealer is best for the EPC but how about the others (transgo, Superior). There is the start of a project any and all advice or comments would be very helpful.

Any advice or tidbits of info would help a lot, I have done engine work, but not on the trans, so this is all new, Got the Valve body in the mail and installed it with no change in the shifting, I am starting to think it is in the "limp mode" I have heard about. Will start to look other places

update

I am almost positive my prob is in the front end somewere. I removed the fwd drive shaft and disconnected the 4X shift motor and I still have the same issue. I did remove the shift motor and I was able to see the position it was inand the point of the triangle was on "H' I can get about an inch of easy movement and hear 3 clicks total then it reaches the point it feel like t is sping loeaded. it will turn but sping back. Although since dicsonnecting both things mentioned I went to 4H and it sounded like it shifted into it and then went to 4L and it is stuck in 4L so I am to the point I dont want to drive it at all. I have tried numerous times to disconnect the batt. cables to let the comp reset, tried to reset the curcit breaker over the left rear well in the jack area, I also changed the fluid in the transaxle it was dark but not horrible, no chunks in the pan and did not feel anything in the fill or drain hole. I have tried all I have heard about and I have not been able to make a differnce. I still think the front end is locked in 4 wheel drive, any ideas or has anyone had this issue
