- 2000 Ranger 4x4
Hello all. I'm sure this has been addressed, but I have very little time during work to do anything... Here is my problem.
2000 Ford Ranger 4x4
4.0L V6
5R55E Auto
111,000 Miles
symptoms:
NO REVERSE!! This is the main problem.
No manual 1st
2-3 flare
Reverse went out for about 3 days, then started working again. It worked fine for about a week and then went out again and has been gone since. Reverse gave no warning signs before going, it was working fine then nothing, not a slip or hesitation...NOTHING! This vehicle is used as an EMS primary repsonse vehicle for the local FD and needs to be fixed in a hurry. The department is small and has limited funds. We would like to troubleshoot it first and get an idea of cost to repair. I'm thinking that a VB rebuild should do it...What are your thoughts. Also, I have already ordered a Ford VB seperator and VB rebuild kit. Since it was only $40 and some change, we went ahead and got it, I figure I will go ahead with this regardless of what we do to it. I think this site is great, as soon as I get a chance, like my next day off, I'm going to become an elite member. I've already learned a lot from the site. Helped with my 94 ranger tranny problem. THANKS A BUNCH!
