I'm putting a 97 explorer OHV 4.0 into my 96 ranger. The explorer has a 5r55e behind it. I'm going to put an m5od behind it when it goes into my ranger.
I understand I'll need a manual trans ECU for this swap. The explorer has all the goodies (electric locks/windows/etc), but my ranger has manual everything (windows/locks/etc).
I was hoping someone would be able to give me the ECU number I need to make this all work. I've got the VIN number for both vehicles if that will help.
Does all the other stuff not matter? Could I just get a manual trans ECU for any explorer OHV 4.0 and run it? Will the computer get confused if its looking for power windows and my truck doesn't have em?
I'm not worried about a check engine light, I think the one on my truck is burnt out anyways
, I just want the engine to run properly, and the starter/fuel pump/gauges/lights etc. to work properly.
