5R55E Transmission Differences

Hello everyone. I lost reverse in my 1999 Ranger and thought I would just bolt in another 01 Explorer 5r55e transmission. But it looks like the newer 5r55e has an intermediate shaft speed sensor. Now, I'm wonderining if this transmission will work, if I hook up everything else without this sensor. My 1999 Ranger transmission looks identical except for the sensor. Do the solenoids work the same for all 5r55e's?

1999 Ranger, v-6 4.0l 4x4, 5r55e
Trans I Purchased From Ebay
2001 Explorer, v-6 4.0l 4x4, 5r55e

Yes it will work, just do not hook up the sensor that is extra, your computer will not register it.

Everything seems to work OK. The computer liked it, speed and everything else registers perfectly. Thanks.
