5R55E valve body interchangability

I've put in a lot of time reading the giant 5r55e rebuild thread, and searching, but am pretty unclear on what 5r55e valve bodies are interchangable.

That is, I know different separator plates (and gaskets on early models) are needed for different applications, but what about the rest of the valve body? Are their different castings with different worm trails? More or less check balls? Different solenoids?

I'm looking to get a low mileage valve body to rebuild, then swap into my 2000 SOHC explorer so that I can get the truck back on the road as quick as possible and leisurely do the work.

Are the 5r55e and 4r44e the same valve body also ? Those are some great prices ..

There are some differences such as the EPC solenoids on the 4R55E have a green band, and cost more than the 5R55E with the red band.

My sons 2000 ranger 3.0 says it has a 4r44. The valve body has a red banded epc. Is this correct ?

Generally, the 4R44E or the 4R55E uses a green band EPC, but a red band EPC could be used. A green band EPC shouldn't be used in 5R55E.
