A4LD Valve body Interchange

I have a 1994 EX Limited 4x4. I want to get another valve body to play with, so I need to know if the valve bodys are the same for 2x4 as 4x4? Also does anyone know what years will work? Are the ranger transmissions an option as well? Thanks

Welcome to this forum! Try to get one that came from another 4.0L. The 4.0L came with a different boost valve, relief valves, and check ball configuration. The 4WD version has a different filter. Basically, you could interchange them if you make the necessary modifications. The 94 design was the most updated as far as the internal transmission parts.

What are the necessary modifications you speak of? The Filter?
