5r55s tailshaft

Soo i need to remove my tailshFt but before i start ripping it apart im wondering how i do it...do i have to remove everything out of my trans or can i do it out the back where it is...any help on this would be great oh and any speacial tools ill need thanks

Believe the tailshaft must be removed through the front of the transmission case: perhaps someone else will speak up? I will go search for my shop manual and check meanwhile. imp

It is fairly extensive to change the tailshaft...why do you need to remove it?

Im removing because well my original took a poo on me and this other one i have is completely rebuilt but has a damaged tailshaft that went un noticed when rebuilt so instead of forking out a couple grand on a truck well over 200k miles i was gonna swap the good with the bad
