Hey I got another used tranny with less than half the km's than the last one and installed this weekend the correct way and now it's running. I put fluid in but only 3.5l in the pan plug and 1/4-1/2l in t/c now it seems like it's not pumping cause it still spilling out after running for 10-15 mins and I'm sure it needs more. And also the o/d light is flashing and service light is on I plugged in the ol obd11 scanner and I think there was 14 codes,1 for every shift solenoid abc&d, torque converter clutch solenoid and some other pressure control solenoid stuff now I think it's electrical but what exactly I'm not sure....I've checked connections on plugs they seem good.. I can't get it to even move when I shift I wonder if it sounds like a ground wire or fuse type thing or if the sensors themselves could all be bad from transport.. Maybe the big plug on the side fastened down by 10mm bolt is in too far or not far enough...This seems to happen to a lot of people and there's a different fix for everyone but mine is a tranny install and theirs more often then Not just happens while they're driving around one day

Bulkhead connection plug issue?

Have you cleared the code to see if they return?

If so the computer cannot connect to the tranny, so sure the bulkhead connector could be the trouble spot.

The transmission should pump fluid without any electrical connections. Remove a cooler line and see if there is flow. If no flow the pump could have failed.

So Ive tried to clear codes and they came right back and od light flashed + service light on so I disconnected bulkhead connect and simply plugged it back in and cleared codes again and voila no more o/d flashing light or service light but still no shifting gears and only 6 codes to do with solenoids .... I took one trans line off and waited for fluid to pump out of the hole and nothing, so I hooked a fluid fill gun to the stainless Coolant line and pumped towards the cooler, fluid immediately came out. I've since cleared the codes again and they havnt come back yet So we figure there could be an air bubble in there somewhere and my atempt at pushing fluid through only moved the bubble a little so my next step is to try and push the bubble out enough that the pump becomes primed and will pump itself and thus allowing for gears to shift.... Is this a sound logic and wat kinda procedure should I follow...ie running, not running, which direction Is best to push the fluid etc

You have at least two problems, one is the electrical connections. Either the case connector, bulkhead connector or pinched wires in the bellhousing is causing your codes for the solenoids.

The other issue is no pump pressure, I have never dealt with a air bubble in the cooler circuit causing the pump not to prime. When you installed this tranny did you make sure the converter was fully seated into the pump before bolting it to the block? Or was the converter already bolted to the flywheel and you installed it that way? Like installing a manual transmission into the clutch assembly. If so the pump is probably broken.

Are you adding fluid with the engine running? If not this could be the reason it wont pick up fluid. Fluid fill and checking fluid level should be done with the engine running.

Well like I say I did disconnect the bulkhead plug and plugged it back in and that seemed to get rid of most of my codes and blinking lights now just the pumping fluid part, I did fill when running and I also pulled coolant line just to check for flow and since nothing I thought there could be a bubble not specifically in the coolant system but somewhere perhaps the valve workings, Im pretty sure the torque converter was all the way in and I bolted up the bell housing before pulling t/c forward to flywheel, atf smelled burned in the new trans/ t/c but I got enough to fill it with good stuff and filled off but added running added 3.5 l to pan plug should I keep adding even after it wants to come back out?

So everything looks good just still not pumping fluid I think I'm gonna talk to trans shop about a replacement im just getting sick of working in this thing and doing and re doing major work to it that doesn't help

Steco... having the same problem as far as the 14 codes are concerned. I put in a new wiring harness when I installed the tranny. Real fun trying to keep the wiring out of harms way while pushing that monster up in it's home. In fact I might have to drop it down a bit just to get to the wires. Anyway before I do that I,m gonna try JK080's idea. Check all the connections and pray. Also, it kinda seems to me with all the electrical error codes that the PCM may have to be reflashed... Just keep looking for that answer. I had a hard time trying to clear my codes with my scanner. I unplugged the battery for three days and that didn't work. There are two different scan tests on Fords as well... a "key on engine off" and a "key on engine running". Just make sure you're up to temp before running the KOER test and adding fluid. Reading around this forum has been real helpful... Good luck!
