5r55w, a lot of noise but will not engage reverse

totally different system, you have AWD not 4wd. The 4WD version uses gear to gear transfer, the AWD version has a fluid coupler that transfers power to the front wheels.

ok... BUT... I am still hearing/feeling this noise. Almost exactly the same as described on other posts. At speed, when I take my foot off the throttle, it feels like it's applying the brakes and at the same time, it's making that grinding/whirring noise. But mine goes, ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON, OFF, like every second, TILL I give it some gas. Would I have a different problem?

Anyone, please help.

is there a chance this could be a cause of my problem???

i recently noticed that the tyres on the back are 285 wide VS 265 in the front.

the 4411 isnt an AWD system...it is an updated 4405. The tire OD is what is important...check em but for the most part, you do want to match tire sizes- with the true AWD systems the tire OD must match.

as for the noise... the helical cut gears are likely not being retained & causing separation on decel letting them slide & grind on the next gear. Drain your fluid check for metal- if so yank it & go through it looking for obvious damage. There is something going on in there if you ignore it its probably gonna leave you sitting- at the worst possible time! Good Luck
