Good Morning all,
So I have been driving my moms 02 explorer and I am noticed that when the trans is cold it doesn’t want to go into overdrive. After about 2-3 miles it works perfectly. It goes through all gears great and I can see the torque converter lock, but no over drive until warm.
Now the truck has 126,000 miles. At 50,000 we flushed the tranny. Then at about 80,000 the solenoid block was replaced and the PCM was reflashed due to the common delay of shifting from R to D. After that work was done the trans has been fine ever since until now. I also am now noticing that we are getting the delay from R to D again.
So here is the plan. It is getting to be the time where I need to change the fluid anyways so I plan to drop the pan, change the filter then flush the tranny using the engine. I am thinking I may also replace the valve body with a rebuilt one from Central VBs then may also replace the solenoid block again. I will then adjust the bands on it. Am I missing anything? Is there anything that you guys would or wouldn't do? I am not new to these trannys nor the A4LD so I am not scared to do anything, just want opinions.
