5th shock absorber

I have been having an untraceable "noise" from the rear of my '99 thats been driving me nuts.

Today, I removed the 5th shock and low and behold, my noise has vanished.

I notice nothing different in the ride.

I removed mine quite a while back. There was no change in the ride, and in my case it aslo helped eliminate a rear end squeek. Of course the shackles and exhausted leaf springs are much worse for squeeks

I believe the actual name for it is Lateral Shock. A new one came in my lift kit. I did notice, however, when I was installing this - it had hardly any moveability -- it seemed almost fully extended when the truck was off the ground (via vehicle lift, not the suspension lift, actually 4 arm post) and it seemed a little odd. I might remove it and see what the effects are - I've had weird "hop" in the rear, but I think that is from the springs.
