Factory unit in the console with the 6 disk magazine.
Will not respond. Does not play, will not eject, nothing.
Any ideas?

Rest of the head unit works fine though.

Single cd works, cassette tape, am/fm, everything.

Well everything but the display, thats intermittent...

Nobody has ever had a problem?

i don't know too much about the CD changer, but i guess the place to start would be to make sure it's getting power. if not, start working backwards from there. if it is getting power, it's fried if it won't even eject. i'm sure there's plenty of them on ebay.

No burnt fuses...I will pull it this weekend and start checking wires.

I expected that comment on the cassette deck, not the cd changer!!!

Yes we have 5 iPods etc...but no adapters to the factory sound in the Ex.

aaahhh, i miss the 45 record player in my dad's '60 Chrysler...

Seriously?!!?? There was a record player in the car? Wouldn't it skip like crazy?

I have a tape deck in my Explorer. I use one of those tape deck adapters to hook my phone (iPod) up to it.

Yep. they'd skip if you hit a pot hole, but early 60's cars were so softly sprung they worked okay. handling wasn't a consideration back then. it was all about the soft ride. i have a restore '61 t-bird convertible on bias ply tires and you literally don't feel a thing as you drive down the road. besides, you probably used it more when you parked down on "lover's lane". how times have changed...

That and they used a spring to keep the needle planted in the groove. I don't imagine the records lasted very long!
