This is the first time a Haynes manual has steered me wrong with a torque value. The manual only listed 106 in. lbs. for all transmission drain plugs, but that is apparently only for the 6F35. The 6F50/55 is only 80 in. lbs. I loosened and retorqued my plug to the specified 80, and do not see any damage or leaks. The metal around the plug is actually quite thick and robust looking. What is the possibility that ive done damage by over torquing this bolt by 26 in. lbs? Thanks.

106 in lb is just under 9 ft lb. 80 in lb is 6 2/3 ft lb. a 2 or so ft lb difference won't cause any damage imo.

If the seal isn't leaking, it will be fine. You didn't over tighten it by very much.
