Hey all!

Looking at doing a fairly overdue pan drop and filter replacement on my 6r60 this year. I was looking at the possibility of doing a sonnax or trans go shift kit while I was at it. The transmission has 140,000 miles on it at this point, the mechatronix unit was replaced at 90K miles. No issues with the transmission at this point, beyond the semi-regular 2-1 downshift when coming to a stop, been that way for years though.

I'm likely to replace the mechatronix seals, install a B&M deep pan, and possibly install a trans go trans-cooler-thermostat delete at the same time.

I am curious if anyone has experience with either the Sonnax or the trans go kits. Any reason to pick one over the other? Anyone run both of them?

I suggest going to 2011-2014 Mustng forums and ask your questions there. The 6R80 was used in all automatic Mustangs for these years. The GT guys there can probably give you a wealth of information on modifications of the 6R80 and likely the 6R60 since they are similar.

Ive given the mustang and F-150 forums a pretty decent digging and havnt really come up with anything helpfull if im honest lol. Its a bit of a stretch to call either of these kits a true shift kit or modification. They are really more of a high wear repair kit, but both seem to hit different areas of the valve body.

Ive replaced ZF mechatronic to gearbox seal kit and installed B&M dipstick.
What Sonnax kit P/N do you want to purchase?
General kit purchasing guideline should be the kit contains valve bore machining and pressure check equipment. replacing the orings or the valves only without remachining the valve holes means nothing in terms of mechatronic rebuild.
If you dont have transmission related DTC ,you better not touching the mechatronic inner seals or other inner parts.
For the 2to1 bump you only need to reset the TCM memory plus relearn and good to for a while.
You do need to replace the 4 mechatronic to pump seals once the valve body dropped, it makes the bump less agressive even without the memory reset
Make sure using proper torque wrench when reassembling the mechatronic back to gearbox.

looking at:
SOX-ZF6-6R60-ZIP for the sonnex kit.

Ive done several adaptive relearns over the years (aligator clips to fully drain the internal capacitors and all) and the 2-1 downshift bump never seems to go away for me, which is why I am looking at replacing the internal seals as well as the sonnax kit.

Have you done any software updates from Ford? Updating to the latest software might solve your shifting issue and others.

Ive not explicitly gone out of my way to get any software updates. But, seeing as how they had to program the new mechatronix unit at 90,000 miles (2016?) I would have thought that was part of the process.

I may go plug in with forscan and see if im on the latest version.
