My 02 has 108000 , so far no major problems :hammer: (knock on wood) sometimes it feels like it shifts a little sloppy though id like to fix this and for the price i figure why not.... just would like some feedback to whether or not this is worth doing or not
2nd thing is, is to my knowledge the fluid has never been changed, now before you criticize me for not doing it... I have read and heard so many different thoughts on changing the fluid: some say DO IT! some say DONT DO IT, others say DONT DO IT after X amount of miles.... so my other question is: if the shift kit is worth doing that means you gotta drop the pan and replace that fluid with what 3-5qts of ATF would that be ok seeing how im past 100k???
Thanks in advance for any answers!!!!!!

You're lucky so far since the solenoid block & servo bores tend to act up around 60K miles. You could install the shift kit, but keep in mind that there are other factors involved (as previously mentioned), so don't expect everything to get resolved from one shift kit. As for the fluid, automatic transmissions require clean fluid in order to shift. New fluid has strong detergents, so the middle ground is to reuse the old fluid, but strain it before reusing it.

How do you reccomend getting the fluid back in, seeing how its sealed and the drain plug is also the fill plug?

Thanks for the quick reasonse BTW!

i thought the 5r55w required a special fluid pump with some kind of nipple bc the drain plug on the pan was also the fill plug, is that wrong? Is there a fill plug on the side? Im sorry for the stupid questions just wanna get it right.
