Hey guys,
I need to know from those who have done it, how difficult it is to install the TRANSGO shiftkit for the 5r55e. Im a Machinery Technician in the Coast Guard, I tear apart and rebuild Detroit Diesel 6V92s, do HVAC repairs etc. Im sort of a jack of all trades but a master of none. Im gonna attempt to install this kit this weekend, but honestly, I've never done anything like this before. I've dropped the pan on auto trannys to change fluid before, but just about anyone can do that. All these little pieces in the kit scare me. Is the installation straight forward, or can it be screwed up easily? I searched the site for a while and found nothing on the 5r55e shift kit, just the 4r70 (or something like that). I just dont want to mess up my tranny, its too damn expensive to replace. Oh, and also, i got up under there and looked to see how hard it would be to drop the pan, and it looks like my exhaust is gonna give me some trouble. Can you drop the pan without removing the cat? Sorry about rambling on. Thanks a lot.
