I was wondering about fitting 6x9's in to the my rear doors instead of 6x8s. Any tricks, tips or ideas along with pictures would be wonderful, thanks alot!

Just wanted to keep myself updated on this too... cause I'm thinking about replacing my door speakers too.

What sizes are in the front?

Stock both front and back speakers are 6x8

When I replaced the rear door speakers in my 2000, I saw that there were provisons for 2 sets of speakers. The factory 6x8's mount to a plastic box that extends from the door, but below this is a cutout that looks like a 6x9 would fit in it (of course you would have to cut the door panel and put a cover in).

I think it wouldn't be that difficult to cut a larger area out of the plastic speaker mount, it would only be an extra 1/2" on each side. Might even be posible with a dremmel tool if you are careful.

I'm pretty sure all 4 speaker holes in the back are 6x8's. I had 6x9's in my rear door for a few months. Make sure the tweeter bar doesn't stick up too far from the basket, or else the tweeter will hit the door panel.

first off, you can fit 6x9's in the rear doors, actually i believe metra makes an adaptor to fit a 6x9 in there, replacing the factory one. As for the hole at the bottom of the rear doors: I noticed the hole too. looks like a 6x9 could fit there, but it would be rather low in the back so sound shouldn't be that great.

do a search for "speaker adaptor 6x9" on this site and the thread "6x9 in doors" has a link to it......my computer is being a POS so I cant copy and paste the link sorry..... Its at parts express.
