ok guys heres the deal i have $7000 that i can spend on my gen 2 explorer sport. its a 99 and my goal is to make it built up for offroad and on road as it is my daily driver as well. i want to be able to clear 35s without trimming. so far i have a 3 " body lift and extras such as a roof basket and kc lighting. what can i do. unfortunatly i dont have the mechanical mind to put things together so i need specifics. i already have 2000 set aside extra for the rims and tires. thanks for helping me out on this on. this is what i had in mind but i need help.... ARB air lockers, SAS (front), rear ??, open for suggestions.

you can do all sorts of stuff for $7000

however, to clear 35s, you will need trimming as the stock fenderwells werent designed to clear a 35" tall tire..... unless you plan on doing something wierd and getting like a foot of lift or something.....

Really? :rolleyes:I know of A LOT of people on this board that are running 35s without trimming. You don't need a foot of lift to do it either.

ok whatever......

Hopefully some of the late model explorer owners on the site will give their opinions to help you out. If I had $7000 to spend on my vehicle I'd probably to an SAS (probaby cheaper leaf sprung or coil and shock D44??), Atlas T-Case, selectable lockers, and the tires to match. Without doing the work yourself that alone could go over $7000 easily, I believe.

Since you already have the body lift you could throw on a 4" Superlift, and should be able to fit 35's, and have plenty of $$ for the T-case and lockers. With fenders you could easily get the 35's, but it sounds like you want to keep it looking more "stock."

1) How serious are you into wheeling this thing?

2) with a 4" lift, plus the current BL, you shouldn't rub too much if any.

3) If you really have $7000+ to play with, and are serious about a SAS, may I suggest buying a trail Rig and building it up rather than your DD.

Get some gears too.:)
