I have an explorer 8.8 with 3.73 and limited slip swapped into my ranger.

i need to swap the gears to 4.10's

do i need anything other than the ring/pinion to swap over for the l/s to work with those gears?

You will need a install kit. I would replace the clutches in the limited slip. New gear oil and the friction modifer.

mmk, it has new gear oil and the additive for the l/s already.

You can reuse the gear lube, but you have to save it when you open the diff.

3.73 to 4.10 isn't much jump... Unless you don't have an overdrive trans behind that V8 I see listed in your sig, I'd seriously consider 4.56 gears with those 33s.

Clean the housing real well first if you try to catch the oil that's in there, otherwise it'll suspend and carry all that dirt with it when you pop the cover off.

You got all the tools required for gear work? (bearing splitter, dial indicator, caliper/micrometer, shop press, inch-lb torque wrench (beam-type), etc.?)

I actually do have most of the tools for it, just not a heated shop and its winter here. So a shop would be doing this.

4.10's are pretty decent for what it does though, my intown mileage might be lower, but for highway trips its pretty good.

and i probably would go 4.56 or even 4.88's if i had to regear both front and rear.

but i made a dumb mistake and misread my code for the gears, and just need to change the rear.
