8.8 questions

Hi ..i'm hoping some one may be able to give me some information.. I'm swaping a 31 spline 8.8 into my jeep..I was wondering what years of expolrer had 4.10's? Will a gear set from a 28 spline diff work on a 31 spline carrier? is there any carrier breaks? ( ie. 3.08's have a different carrier than a 3.73?)

i thin 96 and up or 97 and up is when they started putting in 4.10 gears and i dont think gears are innerchangabel between the spline counts, but i could be wrong

Stock gear ratios will be vehicle dependent, not year dependent. As stated, 4.10s started becoming available in Explorers in '95 (which is what you want because of the discs anyway). You are going to have to check out the tag on the diff cover itself to identify the gears inside.

Yes, the ring & pinion from a 28 spline axle will work just fine.

And no, there are no carrier breaks on the 8.8.
