Hello all,
hope I ended up at the right place? If so let's get right to it. My 89 Ranger Custom 4x4 2.9 5 speed is parked in my shop and waiting for a tranny fix.
At approx. 250000 km the 5th gear packed it in. Off to the tranny shop for a rebuild. (so called professional) Had to go back three times to get it right.
That is until I hit 280000 km and she packed it in again (of course no more warranty) but this time it is a different problem. It is a regular ticking sound but I can still shift all the gears. So I decided to take matters into my own hands.
The tranny is a Mitsubishi and sitting on my shop bench. I assume it would be a good idea to get a parts blow-up first before I go any further? The top and bottom cover are removed. Nothing obvious yet. Any help on where I can get literature would be appreciated.
Thanks Red Baron
