Trying to fix my grandma's 91 explorer that is loosing alot of tranny fluid, the tranny has very delayed shifts especially into reverse but I feel this is mostly caused by the lack of fluid. Once I fill the tranny to a decent level then it drives ok, it's not strong but the shifts seem to be of a tranny in decent shape, not one thats so shot its pissing fluid everywhere. From the underside the entire section beneath the torque converter is covered in fluid and dripping from the y pipe underneath it. My guess right now is the torque converters blown but with fluid it seems to perform ok.. could this still be the issue? are they common to blow and leak fluid? is there any seals in this area that could be the problem also?
