I was going down the hihgway about 65 mph this a.m. My buddy looks over and says "what's burning?" So I looked back and my cargo area had smoke in it, and outside I was blowing massive smoke. I pulled over and looked underneath, it was covered with tranny fluid. It seemed to be coming from between the tranny and the transfer case, couldn't tell for certain. But my tranny never skipped a beat, if not for the smoke I wouldn't have noticed not right away anyway. I came back w/ a car dolly from u-haul took it home, it drove onto and off of fine and into the garage fine. From what I have been reading, seems like it's probably the front seal, but I thought it was a little strange that my tranny didn't have any side effects, maybe I just cought it too soon. It also seems to be going through motor oil real fast, might the two be related? I'm changing the filter & fluid, then I'm gonna see if it still leaks. Any input/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Bruce.

I wouldn't worry too much. It sounds like you caught it in time. I wouldn't think it would be related to the oil, but don't know for sure.

check the modulator also.

Was it over full?
