91 explorer overhaul?

So new to sight and working on cars in general. Have a little experience as far as oil changes, spark plugs, replace alternator, serp. Belt, tune up stuff mainly. My father gave me a 91 explorer, and I wanted to use it to learn on by overhauling, really don't know where to start. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would start with safety related issues like good tires, steering components, brakes, ball joints, etc.

I guess I should say most suspension parts and brakes have already been done. I have decided to do upper intake and valve cover gaskets. Have most of it tore apart, biggest issue has been wiring harness (alot of the clips on the side of injectors have broke off due to alot of oil build up). Also have been taking tons of pics, but guess I have to spend money to post them here....?
