I have a 91 ford explorer and can't figure out what's wrong with it. The check engine light comes on but goes away after awhile and then comes back again. Also wen I set the cruise for example I set it at 60 the tach reads 2000 like normal. But then it starts to rev anywhere from 2000-3000 it revs up n comes back down over n over. Hope someone get help me out. Thanks in advance.

My guess is there is a vacuum leak. Check all your vacuum hoses for cracking. Check the hose that goes to the power brake booster.

I hope you can track it down.

Sound to me like the transmission kick down cable needs to be readjusted.

The trans should not downshift until you are nearly at WOT.

Simple: Press this "D" shaped retainer down with one hand and hold down while pulling the cable out about 1 inch. Release, and then go press the gas pedal all the way to the floor. DONE! :D
