91 Ranger Transmission

hey everyone, just a quick question. what transmissions can i put in my 91 Ranger. 2WD auto. 3.0L. i know its the A4LD but im not sure if i can use one out of an explorer because they have the 4.0.

The 3.0 and 4.0 use different bellhousing bolt patterns. My understanding is that the A4LD has a removable bellhousing, so, as long as the bellhousing will align properly, you should be able to just swap bellhousings.

ok so will the A4LD used with the 2.3L work as well if i swap the bell housing?
