2001 Ranger Transmission swap

I have A 2001 Ranger 2.3 L 2 wheel drive that needs a transmission i lost reverse and over drive only have 2nd gear now i looked on ebay and craigslist and found a wide selection of transmissions but they very in years and motors so my question is what years and motor transmission can fit in this ranger? transmission is a 5R44E

Welcome to this forum! You could use a 5R55E which is a little tougher just as long as the bolt pattern, and torque converter stall range match your configuration. The 97, and 2001 have additional sensors, so keep this in mind during your search.

It may just need a band adjustment. I have seen that before.
