My Grandfather's Ranger started to lose power one day and stopped while going along and now she won't start at all. He thought it might be the fuel pump so we got a new pump and filter installed and she seems to be getting her fuel but she won't start. She turns over but no catch at all. We took out one of the plugs and there doesn't seem to be any spark there, what could be possible causes of this, I guess a number of things but somewhere to start would be a help. Also the windshield washer fuse in the cab fuse panel is blown and things are melted in that area, could this be grounding something out? As I said she was going along fine and then started to lose power and what was said to be seemed like slipping out of gear and then stopped, now she'll turn over but won't start, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

is it a 2.9?what is it for a motor.....also check the coil.if it is a 2.9...pull of the cap and see the rotor button is moving..if it is not you might have a busted timing chain...also try to pull codes.

check timing belt

If you have a 4 cyl 2.3L you can pull back the top of the timing cover > mark it with a sharpie/marker > try turning it over > if the mark doesn't move then timing belt.
