91 v6 5spd to 96 mustang gt v8 5 spd ??

i have my exploder [only complaint is not enough power [lol] but a friend just wrecked his 96 gt .. i know anything can be installed anywhere but just not by me ...

i was wondering if anyone knows of an adapter to go from the transmission out of the mustang to the transfer case on the exploder ??

for the engine compartment i was just going to see about using the later exploder v8 mounts [will these fit ??]

thanks in advance everyone for any and all help [or links or whatever]

edited to say 96 gt [apparantly i cant think this morning]

You can't do it. You can but you will have no accessories or inner fenders. The '96+ use a 4.6L V8 The Explorer still used a 302. A 302 is a tight fit in a frist gen. You pretty much have to have a body lift in order to fit it too. Enclosed is a pic of a 302 and a 4.6 DOHC.

changed post to say 96 gt [wow still tired after last night]
sorry about that

and yeah the 4.6 is a joke it weighs within 75 lbs of the old 460 truck engine
lol .. way way too heavy for me

and i most certainly dont want awd if i can help it

[i love spinning the rear tires on my big truck and have now started looking at the little sport ute for economy + fun]

well what ever year it is .....

its a 302 and 5 speed [but i really think it was / is a 96 will check tomorrow

thanks again

94-95 were the same body style as the 96 but had the 5 liter. The 96 will be 4.6.

ok so its a 95 mustang lol

could care less its white and its wrecked lol

it did have a 302 and a 5 speed [that are now sitting in my garage]

i just need / want help if anyone know of an adapter to go from the
world class t5 transmission [if that is what it is] to the transfer case
under the explorer

i have never worked on things this new before [other rigs are 79 4x4 truck
and a tricked out 68 bronco] but neither of them have air conditioning
or cruise or get better then 8 miles to the gallon [but they both have dual lockers and powerfull v8 engines lol]

the explorer is totally new to me [even tho its a 1991] it only has 69k on the odometer and i know the origonal owner and the care it has recieved..

i am just hopeing that one of you smart people out there know of some little
shop that builds an adapter to install this transmission to this transfer case
[then hopeing some one can tell me how hard it is to put a v8 into the 91 body style]

i do have friends who have installed v8's into rangers and other then cutting the heater box it wasnt really all that bad to do .. [carb models with automatics only] this time i want to do the entire fuel injected thing but i certainly dont want to screw up a rig this origonal being the first to have to figure out all the problems [ie .. will the clutch linkage work from the explorer to the mustang transmission ?? both have internal slave cylinders ??]

any way all information is completely appreciated in advance

i figure with the popular conversions of the v8 rangers and bronco ii there must be someone who has done this conversion on an explorer

thank you all again for your help

[i am sorry i was wrong in the year of the mustang but hey its a car and i am not a car guy i am a truck guy who is now working on a station wagon [the explorer lol] because of the 5 passenger capability and air and fuel mileage and the ride and and and you get the idea]

Search for savage wolf. He did his. But he used the 4R70W(Auto)

awsome

those 2 people have answered almost every question i had in the long and wonderfull posts they made

congrats for a cool conversion and one heck of alot of work

thanks again people

I just did a V8 conversion on my 92 Ranger. The majority of what I did will apply to your project as well. The 95 motor you are looking at will be a little bit easier in that the intake has the 45 degree bend which clears the air condition box. The one problem I can think of that you will probably run into is the A/C compressor interferring with the frame. There are ways around that by raising the motor a little bit and mabeying clearancing the frame.
