so tonight i picked up a 92 explorer for parts (save your boo's). rusted to hell, but runs good. i need the motor out of it and a few other parts so i can fix a different truck that i am going to sell. the owner of it told me over the phone that it only has reverse, and said the trans was blown. i get there and he tells me it is stuck in reverse. you can start it in gear. you can move the shifter, but it doesn't catch any gears. i look under the truck and can see the linkage from the column move, looks like the shifter on the trans moves and that's it. there is another cable on it that i tried to move, but wont budge. i would like to drag it home, instead of a tow truck which would be $100. i cant remember if you have to have your foot on the brake for it to go into gear either. anyone have suggestions other then pulling the drive shaft. would like to have it running cause its a little cold up here at the moment, and would take about 45 mins to drag it home.
