92 expo Al4d 2-3 flare help !

i did a search to no avail ,, i rebuilt my al4d 2 years ago . replaced both servos as well , and clutches gaskets t- converter , didnt do any work on the valve body . now im getting a 2-3 flare i never did a band adjustment after replacing the bands 2 years ago , im driving and first to second is ok then it holds to long in 2nd then engine revs then goes onto 3rd , everytime it runs through the gears, i was also thinking the 3rd gear solenoid is not working properly since they where never replaced , any help would be appreciated

Did you adjust the kickdown cable? How is the fluid level? It might be a good idea to rebuild the valve body.

fluid level is good , i never rebuilt the VB when i rebuilt the tranny i did retighten the intermediate band since i never re-torqued it after the rebuild 2 years ago , took it for a ride and the flare is gone at moment i think this may be just a band aid for now , as for the kickdown cable where is it located i dont remember one on tranny..

The cable is attached to the throttle pedal, and the adjustment is under the hood.

how can adjusting the TV cable have any bearing on a 2,3 shift prob , yesterday i was driving it and wondered if i punch gas pedal what would happen from 45mph trans was in 3rd gear well when i punched gas pedal the trans disengaged and engine just relined ,released gas pedal real quick then it went back into gear , when trans is cold it will shift ok after engine transmission is warmed up ill get a long hold in 2nd gear engine will rev then go in third , i dont know where to start to diagnose problem , i hear modulator , im sure i replaced ,since rebuild 2 years ago trans was perfect NO problems till last week with the 2, 3 flare.

after reading alot of posts here i was also thinking the gasket between the valvebody could of failed or having a blowout of fluid under presure and a pressure loss beacuse of the lazy 2,3, shift or the flare shift , i can remove pan and inspect and retorque the valve body bolts

any help would be appreciated

i have the same problem brewing on mine its not that bad and doesnt do it all the time, from what ive been reading, cleaning valve cover/body, getting new 4x4 control module/ servo pistons, also possibly epc solenoid. Once it gets warm i will be changing fluids and cleaning to see if it corrects problem, if that doesn't do it next ill try the 4x4 control module, casue mine also has a slightly thumping in 2nd and 3rd and its more prone under heavy load and its stated that the 4x4 module will correct it.

well since i never rebuilt the valve body what kit is recommended since im having the 2 , 3 flare and a delay into reverse i have the a4ld also is it any good to use additives that will free stuck valves in valve body ?

You will have to take the transmission apart if you want to install that kit.

what rebuild kit can i use with out removing transmission for the valve body , i my try an additive that will free stuck valves in valve body and replace the modulator.. i really dont want to pull tranny since i have to also pull my tranny on my 03 ..

i adjusted the TV cable the downshift problem back to 2nd is engaging now , but im getting a shifting from 1st to 4th but while im driving it will float out of 3rd gear then re-engage back into 3rd harshly at first then after another tv adjustment it was smooth then shift to overdrive if im doing over 45 i did adjust bands , would a modulator replacement help this prob

Is the modulator leaking? Do you have an adjustable or a non adjustable modulator?

i have the original modulator i will check it and let you know, since the part is cheap ill just replace it ,, and report back thanks
