92 ranger wont start

my 92 ranger wont start unless the battery charger is hooked up to it. the battery is brand new, connections are clean and tight, starter is only a few months old. when you turn the key you can hear the solenoid kick in but nothing else, but as soon as you hook up the charger it turns over just fine. has anyone ever experienced this before? it seemed like it had to be a poor connection to the battery, and it still maybe i guess but they look clean and tight and all of the electronics work just fine.

If you have a volt meter check the volts on the battery before you hook up the charger. There should be about 14.4 volts. You might have a draw in the electrical system thats draining the system down.
