92 starting problem

I went to start my 92 and it goes dead. Wait 5 seconds and then all the lights come on and it starts up fine. Two weeks later i have the same problem turn the key and nothing everything is dead, except all the 4x4 lights come on and they are dim. wait 5 seconds all lights come back on and it starts up fine. my presets on my radio were erased. I'm going to clean my terminals but this sounds more like a short right?

I think it's the terminals, or possibly a defective starter solenoid, or starter. Did you ever do a load test on the battery? If your battery is no good, it will display the same problem.

Also check your cables real good. They have a nasty habit of going bad from the inside out.

Just had that same prolem 1/2 hour ago not every thing is dead but the starting clicks. I think it could be the bat. cable or the solenoid.?

Where is the clicking coming from? Is it the solenoid on the firewall? Do you get just one click, or multiple clicks as you hold the key in the start position?

I have a 93 with a 4.0. It has 2 starter solenoids. One is on the starter, and the other one is on the driver's side inner fender wall near the battery.
