Hey everyone, Great Site!!

Now to the 911 part:

93 Ford X and the pass window is stuck down. Press the button to raise the window and it makes a small audible click...Does this from the passenger switch AND the driver side switch. Took off the panel and speaker etc. Got in there trying to figure out how to just manually raise the window..Is this possible? My Haynes manual doesn't mention it. It just tells me to drill out the three rivets that mount the motor to the inner door. I can do that some other time, I just need the window up..If it stays up everything will be cool..

SO, is there a trick to get the window up manually? Do I HAVE to drill out the rivets and replace the motor just to get the window up??

This happened to me also. Take the driver side panal off and locate the swithch that operated pass. side. splice in two wires to the wires from that switch, then run them over to the wires of the motor if you can get to them. I actually cut the two wires from the motor. This bypasses the pass. side switch. This was on my 97 xlt. What makes the motor change direction is that the rocker switch changes polarity and the motor runs the other way. How I found this out was that I took my motor out when window was stuck down thinking it was the motor. To make sure I hooked up some leads to the motor, bingo it worked. then I reversed the leads and it went the other way. This may work for you.. I did do the above wiring just to get the window back up. So in my case it was the pass. side switch if its bad it wont let the driver side switch work also hence the bypass wiring. Good Luck

Awesome, I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the speedy reply!

I didn't get around to trying the wiring trick BUT today I got into the car and tried the switch again. I toggled the switch over and over in angst and I got a different sound this time. Still the audible little click but every other click i could hear a small whine or creak. It sound like it was trying to do something and then nothing.. It was very very quick. I had my roomy toggle up and down over and over. The panel is still off so I could look in there while he worked the button. Nothing moved at all.

Does this sound like the motor or do you think doing the wiring trick still might cure it?

Also once you have the door panel off, make sure nothing is preventing the glass from sliding up. I have seen the glass get off track and the motor won't be able to force the glass up. Of course it could be that the motor is going bad. Or the wiring came loose.

Wiring seems to be ok..I didn't see any loose connections or frayed wire anywhere...I can't see where it connects to the motor though.

As for the track it seems to be lined up. I took one of the tracks off so I could try the lever manually..no dice...

I don't see anything stopping the glass from raising up. If there were only a way to disengage the motor, you know just slip the teeth off it, just long enough to raise the window, then engage it again so the window wont slip back down...If that were possible I would crap sherbert.

Wes can you see if there is a plug near the motor . Unplug it. If you can take a 12v power source and a ground wire. Touch the end of the trminal going to the motor. If nothing happens reverse the wires. IF it works then most likly it is the pass side switch that is bad. That is what happened to me. It would go down but not up. Even the driver side switch would not let it go up , it must go thru the pass. side first I guess. But when I bypassed the pass. switch it worked fine. Even now I have'nt changed the switch, I still have the temporary wires running from the dr.side thru door where all the other wire pass thru under dash thru pass. side door then directly to motor. Granted it could be other things. Keep in mind also this happened to my 97 xlt so things might be different. With the door panal off can you see two wires coming from the control buttons going to motor. If all else fails cut those two wires, you can allways splice them back again. then do the two wire thing. This will let you know if its the motor, remember to reverse them. It would be a shame to buy a motor and that wasn't the problem. One other thing there is a powerful spring in there that can cause a lot pain. I took a motor out of another x and that thing damn near took my finger off when I removed the motor.

Success!!!!

I can't believe it boys, but the wiring job did it!!! I bypassed the passenger side relay switch, ran some 16 gauge through the dash over to the driver side..snipped a few wires, re-wired direct from driverside to passenger wire and BINGO!!! Window rolled right up!!

I just gotta say guys, you really saved the day and the wallet! Much love to all the X-ploda boys..You rawked my face off!!!
