93 Stock radio trouble

my stock radio on my 93 explorer turns on for a few seconds and then turns off and then turns back on again. Does anyone know what the problem is? It sounds like a fuse but it is not. Could it be that the positive wire is touching ground near one of the speakers?

Some component is overheating and turning on and off, just replace it with a indash CD unit. They can be had for 100 bucks, and Crutchfield will give you the adapters for direct plug and play.

What class radio is it? If its a mid-line tape player there could be something wrong with your stock amp.
