*Updated* Still will not start!! 93 won't start, new battery still will not start

My 1993 Explorer would not start so I took the battery out and had it tested and it tested bad. I replaced the battery and my explorer still will not start. Not sure what is going on! I don't believe it is the starter since it is new, less than 6 months, any other ideas?

Thanks

*UPDATE*
I replaced the starter relay and the Explorer started, turned the explorer off and I got the dreaded "click." Any ideas to what is going on? Also, I replaced my battery cables about 6 months ago also.

Shifter or automatic transmission ? Shifter needs the clutch pushed down totally to engage the starter, check if floormats are underneath the pedals.
On automatic transmission lever must be in parking position, otherwise it won´t start.

At least it could be caused by ignitionswitch, are the instruments working when you turn ignition "on" ? and is there any powerconsumption ? ( for both look at the batt.-indicator while turning key ).

It is an automatic. All instruments work as they should when I turn the key then I just get a "click"......

already checked the EEC-Relay ? Its under the hood, passenger side, under the fuses.

In most cases like this, the cables are bad or there is a bad conection. Don't just look at the ends either. They corrode down the wire.

You might check that new starter and make sure the bolts are tight. If the bolts are loose or the starter isn't seated straight, it could be in a bind. You also might check your starter solenoid (cheap, easy replacement)

Batt. Gnd.-Connector can be bad - I recall this was what made trouble first time when I got my ´90 last year.

I just replaced my battery cables within the last 6 months. I need to look at the starter solenoid and the starter connections. Thanks!

hey, i am new here..i was overseas for 3 months, and when I came back my 93 xlt with93000 miles won t start..I checked out the batteries but that wasn t it.. I thought about the fuses and replaced the eec relay but still the same click..
I was told that underneath the hood, there might be a switch that might automatically turn off the engine...
Please HEEELLLP, let me know what I can do...

only switch i know is that fuel emergency cut switch. Passenger side, floor. Beyond the carpet. See manual.

xlt 93

so is it underneath the car by the axles, or inside the car beneath the carpet..
awaiting response.'
Thanks

INSIDE the car, under the dashboard up on the firewall in the passenger side footwell.

When you turn the key to 'on', you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If not, check the relays.
Fuel pump relay is where to start. Also, check the PCM relay. If you switch the 2, it may still not start. ____Could also be the inertia switch.______________

Are any of the battery terminals involved here, the type which are bolted to the cable? Only use battery cables which have the battery terminal built into them. Good luck,
