94 4.0 temp fluxuation

94 ranger 4.0 a/t 4x4. new h/d fan clutch, thermostat, cap and coolant. it has twice popped hoses upper rad hose and heater hose. water pump seems good. truck allways ran cool over heated once been trouble ever since. can't figure it out anyone else ever have this problem ?

Have you checked your oil lately, Id i were you i'd see if it seems milky.

If it is, you may have blown a head gasket... Hopefully not though!


My truck also fluctuates in temperature, I have also replace the entire cooling system, my best guess is the thermostat you bought is of lower quality and does not respond quickly enough to temperature changes.

thanks for the response. i've changed the oil since this all started and no oil thank heaven. and in the back of my mind i too have suspected that checker thermostat. think i'll try an oem part.
