So I searcehd for this and didnt really find anything. Im replacing my ball joints and removed the bolts from the ABS sensor and it will not come out. I tired to beat it out with a hammer (dont really care about the abs) and it wont budge. Any ideas/opinons on what to do?
Not to ramble but i lost my keys to my other car and have made a priority to fix this. Didnt quite think it was an emergency so I posted it here.
Any help appreciated!

Are talking about the ABS sensor (aluminum cylinder), or its protector (kidney shaped)? Check out the
ABS info thread for some more info and pics.

From what you've posted, you sound like you don't realize that the front ABS sensors are actually composed of 2 parts: the aluminum cylinder and the pig metal HOUSING.

With the aluminum cylinder in place, you cannot just bang on the housing and expect it to come loose. That's because the aluminum cylinder (in addition to the 2 bolts) HOLDS the whole thing into the spindle.

After removing the 2 bolts that hold the housing in place, take a socket extension (or some other type of blunt punch) and punch out the aluminum cylinder part towards the center of the truck. If it doesn't want to move, I suggest soaking it front and back with PB Blaster or some other good penetrant.

Then, the dark metal housing will come loose, with a little convincing from a punch and hammer. After that, you'll be able to pull the axleshaft so you can get the ball joint press in there.

Sorry, yeah i removed the metal housing. I was banging on the aluminum shaft that houses the actual sensor. I will let the penetrator sit overnight and give it another shot tommarow. Thanks for the info.
