Last week my gas pedal got stuck under my floor mat. I've got a manual transmission and when I shifted out to go to third the engine revved up to around 5500 for maybe 5 seconds or so before I realized what had happened. Afterwards I could smell some burnt oil. Does anyone know the damage I may have caused, if any, from redlining for that long? Thanks.

Well, have you noticed the truck running any differently?

(stock, these trucks have a governor in them, to prevent such rev damage).

If you had thrown a rod or something, you'd know it. Might have worn a little on your clutch when it shifted in; that clutch material might be what you smelled. If you clutch is still shifting you're probably fine, you probably just shortened the clutch lifespan by 10000 miles.

no, I didn't shift when the pedal got stuck, so I'm not real worried about the transmission, just the engine I'm worried about from the high rev. But no, nothing different when I drive, so probably nothing serious to worry about.

Ive pushed mine to around that, all it does is kind of bog back down about 500 rpm and back up a bit, it wont let you push it though. Autotranny A4LD. Now one of the problems i always have is my power steering cap popin up, spilling fluid all over the manifold, when the engine gets alot of action, make sure to check it.

It should be fine. You would notice if you damaged something.

i agree, you definately would know :)
