Followed detailed directions on replacing a bad fuel pressure regulator (FPR) today from the internet; turned engine on and pulled the fuel pump relay to depressurize the system; removed air hose; drained about a quart of antifreeze to remove coolant hose near FPR. Removed FPR and placed new one on. Attached everthing back, refilled coolant, replaced fuel pump relay and when I went to start it would not turn over. I could hear the fuel pump charge and all that came from the engine was a slight clicking sound. The dash and radio would dim when I tried starting it? Any ideas on what could be wrong? By the way, while I was replacing the FPR I unhooked the negative cable...maybe that has something to do with it???

Also check your battery cable connections.

Same thing happened to me in my old benz. It may not be your battery, but possibly your battery cables. I went in with a wire brush and cleaned one at a time.

My question for you is do you hear a very delayed and and almost slow-motion start? If so I'd certainly blame something on your battery.

It won't even turn at all. I turn the key and all I hear is a rapid clicking sound.

I had the same thing happen not too long ago. After not driving the X for 4 months, the battery was dead. Just hook it up to a charger over night and that should do the trick. BTW, where in Syracuse are you from?
