Searched but couldn't find any threads about trucks with the same symptoms and a resolution to the problem, so here goes...

Replaced the fuel pump with a Carter unit, new fuel filter, and just today swapped the coil pack with a used OE example with fewer miles on it, and the problem seems to be getting worse as time passes. Truck now stumbles very badly from a dead stop and forget about it accelerating at anything above half throttle. Idles dead-smooth in and out of gear and will rev cleanly while not in gear. No CEL thrown (light works). I would say that it seems to be slightly worse once it warms up. Fuel economy has stayed the same as it's always been. No problems with hard starting, either...fires right up every time.

I'm going to replace the plugs and wires, PCV valve, and coolant temp sensor and clean the MAF and report back, but if anyone's got any ideas, I'd sure appreciate the help.

Thanks for the reply. #2 spark plug boot had a cut on the plug side...guess the wires are older than I thought. Gotta wait 'til tomorrow to get the o.e. wires and will update once they're on.

Torn plug boot was the culprit. Truck runs great now.
