Hmm, with the symptoms you state I would look more into the fuel pressure regulator or even a clogged fuel filter. Possibly a fuel pump that's going out. More likely than not the black smoke is from it running rich on oil due to not getting enuff gas in the combustion chamber.

Black smoker

Check engine light on? I just finished two weeks of troubleshooting a koeo, koer code 157 [maf fault/ low voltage]. Poor idle, bad gas mileage, loss of power.
I changed the following:
1. Maf sensor
2. Two o2 sensor
3. Removed & reinstalled eec-iv unit
4. Found a broken vac tube
5. Replaced maf plug

you would think after all that work that i had fixed the problem, you would be right.:d
for about 10 minutes.:(
somewhere in there i bumped into the issue at hand but didn't fix it very well.

I need the wire diagram for the maf to eec-iv and the 60 pin i.d. For an eec-iv unit.
Thanks for the help.

bobby, I just finished 30 days of testing my rig with sim. problems. Your ECM controls the shifting, sensor voltages, idle speed, A/C, ect... I'm guessing changeing the TPS didn't fix the issue.

The OBD-2 CODE READER will communicate with the ECM but,the ECM will never tell on it self, it will point the finger at any and all other sensors before that ever happens. This is what you should do.
Pull out your ECM (EEC-V located behind the right hand side kick panel) it will have a number like [FxxF-12A650-(xx)-combo of two letters at the end] replace with a remanufactured ECM with the same number.
When the ECM goes bad it will start to say that a sensor is above or below voltage. Depending on which area of the ECM circuit has gone bad. The ECM will have you chaseing ghost all day.
If you want to be safe about it, Open up your ECM and visually inspect it for broken wires, burnt circuits, discolorations, or loose componants.
Or take your ECM to the DEALERSHIP and have it tested off the truck. Be prepaired, a new ECM is about $600 (go with the reman). GOOD LUCK :salute::salute::salute:
