Is it in mint condition? Easiest would be to sell it and buy a 5.0L Explorer. Being in MA I can't imagine that your chassis is pristine instead of worn by weather so an engine and tranny transplant along with wiring and computer and exhaust and... It seems like something easier to write than do, at least in the US where these are not rare.
Plus some of your post got cut off, everything after "I would like", and your poll has strange choices and lacks a 3rd choice of "Just no".
I wouldn't mod that. Go on CL and find a running V8. Also, a stick explorer is quite rare. I'm sure you could get enough money from the sale to get a V8.
I mean, unless there is sentimental value it is totally not worth doing.
