Engine loses power at hwy speeds, pumping accelerator will eventually restore power. Slow to accelerate from dead stop at times. Engine rpm drops to about 1.5k- 2k when it loses power.
This just started happening. What is causing this problem?

Have you had the fuel injectors checked?

Like I stated this just started, haven't checked out anything yet. I have been searching for the causes of..... fast idle and then to badly missing after setting running for 7-8 min, that happened today. Loss of power happened last week, with slow pick up and then 4 or 5 times it lost power at hwy speeds.
Whatever is happening it is getting worse. 30 miles plus to nearest ford dealer, so I'm in a bit of a bind along with being a disabled vet.
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add it to my check list that I've started.

Look up MAF sensor cleaning. Do that first.

Check engine light on? Any OBDII trouble codes? Wait, a '95 may be OBDI but still... Which engine?

Has any routine maintenance been done in recent years like replacing the fuel filter? I mean you could check fuel rail pressure but if the filter hasn't been changed in who-knows-how-long, it might as well be replaced instead for the time being. I'd also poke around looking for vac line leaks and wonder how long since a spark plug and wire job was done... you may know these things but we're in the dark what state the vehicle is in.

Certainly you could clean the MAF and IAC valve too, and any other periodic maintenance things that I can't think of at the moment. Make sure you're not losing coolant or oil, nor coolant in the oil or vice versa.
