So i have a 95 ford explorer with a 4 liter pushrod v6
last week i changed the lower intake manifold gasket, and i have seem to have done a good job.
but i can't tell because i can't get the car to run.
i plugged all the wires in and hooked up the air hoses, but to no avail.

what happens is when i turn the key the engine starts but it revs up to 3000 rpms and then quits.

i intitally thought it might be an air leak from a vacuum hose, but i changed the hoses and still the same thing happens.

so any help or thoughts would be helpful. thank you
joe.

Any codes?

iac maby.. all the bolts tight enough, maby there is a leak in the gasket?

no codes

all right, so i don't think that there are any codes. i think this because first even when i get the car started and keep it running by feathering the gas pedal, the check engine light still does not come on. so i could be wrong but doesn't this mean there are no codes?

i took the intake off today, and inspected the gasket, and it seems to be good. i also made very sure that all the hoses were hooked up correctly and everything was tight.
it runs al little better. and by better i mean it idles very roughly and then shuts off.

any way i think i have exhausted my own fixes and should send into my mechanic to look at.

i may have messed up an injector when i took the manifold off.

but thanks for you replies anyway.
feel free to post back if anything else comes to mind.

Check you IAC, mine did that, and wouldnt idle at all. it would start, sputter then die. those thing can go wrong over night. IT happened to me. Its a 45 dollar fix. better than being charged an arm and a leg to get your truck looked at. Maby even clean it, thats the cheapest.
