My 95 XLT explorer is making a loud roaring noise on the driver side front wheel when moving. The faster you go, the louder the noise. There is a slight vibration with the noise. The noise quiets when going around a right hand curve. This is a 4x4 XLT and everything else works great. Anyone experience this?

Sounds like a wheel bearing/hub assembly.

That sounds backward though- general rule is right turn is a left wheel bearing, left turn is a right wheel bearing since that's when they're loaded. Sometimes the side you think you hear isn't the side it ends up being. Don't ask me how I know that. :D

Yeah, you're right. It is backwards from the "norm", but I have had it work out that way. I guess it all depends on "how" the bearing is worn/damaged. Sometimes it might make more noise when it's loaded.

I think we have forgotten that the noise happens when forward. I might have the same noise on the same truck. It vibrates the floor when it is at the peak of the noise. It is not a steady noise, it fades in and out but only quiets through a right turn. It starts at 20 mph but i hear a quiet grind that is at the same interval with the "noise" The pace of the beat of the noise gets faster at higher speed but never becomes a steady noise. Do we have the same problem? Does anyone have an idea. I am going to get one from the scrap yard and replace the hub to see if I have pinpointed the issue. please dont try to stop me! kidding
