1995 Ranger
Hi guys. I just got this 95 ranger from my FIL who didn't use it much, only 83,000 miles. So I fixed a few minor things this past week, removed bed and replaced fuel pump because the sender was bad. New fuel neck, old one was leaking, and new Gabriel shocks front and rear.
Now my question, does the regular cab short bed just naturally ride a little
rough and bouncy? I thought after new shocks I would get a better ride. I'm use to my old 87 F150 which rides very comfortably. Am I expecting too much from this little light Ranger or is something else wrong I need to fix?

Just a thought, new tires also. Maybe adjust the air pressure?

Never mind. It is what it is I guess.

Kinda normal for any pickup with an empty bed, I thought. But maybe the lighter the truck, the worse it is.
The easiest and cheapest fix is to throw a couple filled sandbags in the back, and keep then all the way back by the tailgate. Or any weight that's behind the axle will help.

I've had 7 other pickup trucks in my life. Two were the small Toyotas, one a long bed and the other short. I hauled a ton of sand in the 70 Toyota longbed once and hardly knew it was back there. I can't remember any that rode as rough as this Ranger. In 1995, I bought my son a new Ranger Splash. It didn't ride as rough as this one either. Maybe it's just me. I did see someone talking about prying the leaf springs apart and greasing them so they would slip making the ride better. I never heard of doing that before.
I'll live with it for now, maybe find another Toyota some day.
