95 Slow shifting from N to R or D..

Is it normal for the shifting of the trans. to take a few seconds when shifting from park or neutral....

This is my first auto and I am nit really used to this. It just had a power flush before I bought it.

The change of gears isnt instant. About the count of three or so.
Even though it had a flush I would still change the filter as that isnt usually done when they do a flush and imo it should be.
I had a flush at 55,000 and a filter change thereafter and have changed the filter once a year since then. appx 15,000 mi.
Transmissions are weak and expensive. Filter changes are cheap.
