 Hello everybody,

I just bought a 1995 XLT and I'm trying to use a EZ scan 5000 handheld scanner to read the trouble codes, the thing is that when I connect the scanner to the OBD 2 hook up I get the message that the vehicle is not responding. I tried some diode grease to see if that would help but that was no good and all the connections seem to be alright.
Before I bought the car it was kept on beach front property, could that have something to do with it?

Thanks,
azmodan.

1995 is not OBDII compliant, I believe it is still OBDII.. Should be a diag port in the engine compartment.

Thanks for the quick reply blee, any idea where inside the engine compartment i can find the diagnostic port, because the only one I found is on the drivers side just under the dash and while I'm at it would you know what the port I found is for???

Thanks again,

Azmodan.

As already noted, your truck is not OBD II compliant.

The diagnostic port is in the engine compartment, on the drivers side just in front of the master cylinder. I seriously doubt your scan tool will work though.

You will need a FORD OBD-I connector

Once again thanks for the quick reply, I found the port, and have the ford OBD I connection for it. I will post the results if I can retrieve them.

I wish it was possible aslo with my 1995.. as i have never checked codes cause of that.

If I can get the codes and find a fix I will gladly post on the site.

By the way, how would I post any pics on this site, for example attached to a thread?

Azmodan.
